History
Padre Pio lived from 1887 to 1968.
Seasonal move: the shrine's magazine, La Voce di Padre Pio, reports that at the end of the liturgical year the body is moved from the lower church to the crypt of the Shrine of Santa Maria delle Grazie, where it stays until spring. It calls this a tradition. In 2025 the move took place on the feast of Christ the King.
